Apple Pie Bombs A La Mode

What is an Apple Pie Bomb? It is a sweet cinnamon topped biscuit wrapped around homemade apple pie filling. They are served warm, fresh out of the oven, just as they are or with vanilla ice cream. A little caramel sauce is a great addition as well. If you aren’t up to making a homemade apple pie filling, there are no rules saying you can’t use store-bought apple pie filling! Either way, these are going to be an instant hit with the family and expect them to disappear in seconds!

  • vanilla ice cream
  • cinnamon sugar
  • oil for frying
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 can of biscuits each circle pressed out and cut in 4 pieces
  • 2 apples peeled and chopped in 1″ pieces
  • Number one : Heat a dutch oven filled 1/3 full of oil over medium heat.
  • Number two : Place the apples, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Number three : Stir everything together and heat again for 30 seconds or until tender.
  • Number four : Using a small spoon, scoop an apple piece with a little of the sauce onto a flattened piece of biscuit.
  • Number five : Pinch all of the edges up together and set aside while you repeat with the remaining pieces.
  • Number six : Carefully place 3-4 apple pie bombs in the oil, turning occasionally until golden on each side.
  • Number seven : Remove to a paper towel lined plate.
  • Number eight : Repeat with all dough.
  • Number nine : Place the cinnamon sugar in a bowl, toss each pie bomb in the sugar and pile on a large plate.
  • Number ten : Top with a scoop of ice cream and any leftover apple pieces chopped fine.
