The BEST and Easy Apple Crisp

Oh my gosh, this is delicious! I have never had such a delicious apple crisp! THIS is now my standard Apple Crisp recipe. I made mine in a 9 x 13 pan and doubled the topping as another reviewer suggested to cover. It is important to follow the steps and not deviate from them.

For the crumb topping:
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter ,cut into small pieces1/3 cup unsalted butter ,cut into small pieces

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour1/2 cup all-purpose flour

For the Apple filling:
  • dash of saltdash of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 Tablespoons milk3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tablespoons butter , melted3 Tablespoons butter , melted
  • 3-4 large Granny Smith apples , peeled and thinly sliced3-4 large Granny Smith apples , peeled and thinly sliced
For serving (optional)
  • Homemade Caramel SauceHomemade Caramel Sauce
  • Vanilla Ice Creamvanilla Ice Cream
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

For the topping:
  • Number one : In a medium size bowl combine the crumb topping ingredients with a fork or pastry blender until it resembles small crumbs. Refrigerate while you prepare the apple filling.
For the Apple Filling:
  • Number one : I use a Johnny Apple Peeler to peel and slice the apples all at once. It makes the process a lot faster!
  • Number two : In a small bowl, combine melted butter and flour until well blended. Add lemon juice, milk and vanilla and stir well. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. 
  • Number three : Pour butter mixture over apples and toss to coat. Pour apple mixture into an 8×8-inch baking dish and spread into an even layer. 
  • Number four : Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the apples.
  • Number five : Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and top is set. 
  • Number six : Remove from oven and allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
  • Number seven : Serve with Vanilla Ice Cream and Homemade Caramel Sauce
